Talking Dead

Wow. That's my assessment for last night's mid-season finale of AMC's hit show: THE WALKING DEAD. The producer's of said show have really outdone themselves - and this after there was so much uneasiness after Frank Darabont took a back-seat in the show's production at the beginning of Season 2. But after last night's 'Episode 7: Pretty Much Dead Already,' we needn't worry any longer about the direction of the show. Gripping, intense, emotional - it will be difficult to wait until February 12th to see how it all plays out at Herschel's farm.

You may be asking yourself: "Is it really that good?" The answer is yes - THE WALKING DEAD, particularly last night's episode, was quite frankly THE BEST zombie story I've seen put to film, and this includes George Romero's movies. High praise coming from this zombie lover!

Sweeping Up

Had a great time at the party - everything went well and a fun time was had by all. Yesterday I took down most of the inside decorations (just left enough in the entry way for trick-or-treaters to see on Halloween night). It's always kind of sad to tear it all down, but I cheered myself up by watching one of my all-time seasonal favorites: HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH - a guilty pleasure, what can I say... and drinking left-over Sam Adams Oktoberfest while I worked.

After all the hard work of storing away countless Halloween decorations in their proper places was done (for the most part), I treated myself to one of the best episodes of AMC'S THE WALKING DEAD that I've ever seen. A great way to end a fabulous weekend. Pictures to come at www.hallowzing.com.

Dead Dispatch

If you're anything like me, you geeked out over the 'Dispatches from the Set' that AMC featured on their site for THE WALKING DEAD last season. Well, they're at it again - and chatting it up with series creator Frank Darabont! Here's a little bit of what the man had to say about Season 2:

"We're fleshing out the story in so many different directions. Once you're into this with real actors playing these characters, the dynamics develop over time from episode to episode. There's so much rich story and character to plunder. I don't know if we're giving anything away, but... something as simple in the comic books winds up being sort of a fantastic complication on screen. In the story we're telling, it's just not that simple as it was in the comic book because you have those opportunities to really spin the story out in many different layers. So, that kind of stuff is tremendously exciting to me"

Season 2 of THE WALKING DEAD is slated to come alive this Fall!

Zombie King

I think this news falls under the 'pretty cool' category: genius horror scribe Stephen King is in talks to pen a script for Frank Darabont's THE WALKING DEAD series on AMC. I think this is just what the show needs, for as great as the first season was, the final episode seemed like kind of a let-down to me. I think King is the man to give this program the shot in the arm it needs. Here is the official story:

AMC’s zombie sensation The Walking Dead might be getting a serious scare injection on its writing staff for next season. Iconic horror novelist (and former EW columnist) Stephen King has confirmed with EW that he’s currently in talks to write an episode of the post-apocalyptic series. Dead is executive-produced by Frank Darabont, who has directed three films based on King’s work — four, if you count his 1983 short film The Woman in the Room — and King tells EW exclusively that Darabont “has expressed enthusiastic interest for season 2 or possibly 3.”
